About the place
The holy spring temple at Tampaksiring, founded in 962. In the pool with thirty spouts Balinese perform the melukat purification rite, and visitors can join in a sarong with an offering. Nearby on the hill stands the former residence of President Sukarno.
It is one of the island's most visited temples, best reached at opening at 8 am. The road from Ubud runs through carving villages and the rice fields of Tampaksiring.
