What changed on the roads
The scheme comes from Dishub Gianyar, the regency's transport department. Jalan Raya Pengosekan now runs north only, toward the Monkey Forest, and turning into Jalan Made Lebah from it is no longer allowed.
Jalan Raya Ubud runs east only, from Monkey Forest to the Arjuna statue, and the entry from Jalan Cok Gede Rai is closed. Sukma Kesuma and Sugriwa run north toward Dalem Puri, while Peliatan 1 and Jatayu run west from Puri Peliatan.
Day one: four hours of gridlock
According to Bali Live, traffic in the center came close to a standstill from midday into the evening on launch day. Jalan Monkey Forest, Jalan Hanoman, Jalan Raya Ubud and the Arjuna statue junction were hit hardest.
Ride-hailing drivers said fares had roughly doubled because of the time spent stuck. Foreign scooter riders were reported to be confused by the new closures.
Buses and passenger drop-off
Tour buses may no longer enter central Ubud. Officials set aside an area at Dalem Puri for dropping off passengers. The report gives no final assessment of the trial and no date for a review.
The changes cover the part of town packed with guesthouses, cafes and the market. Whether the layout stays as it is remains unclear.
What owners and guests should check
The new rules matter most for properties on Jalan Hanoman, Jalan Monkey Forest and in Pengosekan. The way out from a villa may now follow a different route from the way in and take longer.
Taxi and transfer drivers usually rely on navigation apps. If the maps have not caught up, guests may be sent the wrong way. Send guests a short access sketch in advance and name the nearest spot where a car can stop safely.
The walking part of the trip may also grow if cars can no longer turn around at the gate. Mention this in your listing so it does not turn into a complaint in reviews.
