Tabanan's monkey forest: 12 hectares of sacred woodland around Dalem Kahyangan temple, hundreds of macaques and a colony of flying foxes in the upper branches. Far calmer than the Ubud version, with few tourists.
Every 210 days, on the temple festival, the village walks through the forest in the mapeed procession with offerings carried on heads. Nearby is Kukuh village with its teak furniture workshops.
