What Badung asked for
Badung regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa addressed Banggar DPR, the budget committee of Indonesia's parliament, during its working visit to Denpasar on 2 October 2026.
He asked for central government support through the Ministry of Finance. The request concerns strategic roads that link national highways with tourism areas.
Banggar handles the allocation of the state budget in parliament, including TKD transfers from the centre to the regions. Regions use such visits to state their needs directly.
The cost of the projects
Badung is already building several strategic road sections worth around Rp 2.8 trillion. The money comes from regional loans. The goal is to remove traffic bottlenecks in South Badung and improve connections between tourism zones.
The regent stressed that infrastructure has a direct effect on the competitiveness of tourism. He described tourism as one of the engines of Bali's economy.
Bottlenecks in South Badung are familiar to anyone travelling from the airport to Jimbaran, Nusa Dua or the Bukit.
The committee's view
Banggar DPR chair Syarief Abdullah Alkadrie said the visit was to assess how the APBN state budget is being executed, along with regional transfers, tax policy and local financial management.
He said 2026 transfers to regions should fund productive and measurable spending. Priorities include basic services, regional competitiveness and food security. The report does not mention any decision on Badung's request.
Whether help will come should become clear when budgets are allocated.
