What has been built
Perumda Air Minum Tirta Mangutama, Badung's municipal water company, has completed physical work on the undersea pipeline. Technical director I Made Suarsa said every connection is in place and the system is ready for a commissioning flow test.
The pipeline is meant to strengthen clean water supply in eastern Badung, above all Nusa Dua and the Jalan Pratama area.
Without enough raw water, however, the finished pipe stays empty.
How the network changes
Until now, the east and west of the regency shared one integrated network. The new line separates them. The old pipeline will serve the west, and the undersea one the east.
The utility expects this to make distribution by service zone more efficient. But the launch cannot happen while raw water is too scarce to fill the system.
For residents and businesses in the east, better pressure and steadier supply will have to wait until the new line runs.
Shortage and stopgaps
To cover the shortfall, the utility plans to draw about 300 litres per second from Tukad Mati. A detailed engineering design is under way, with construction scheduled for early 2027.
Meanwhile free water tanker deliveries continue around Muara Estuari, though coverage is limited because the affected area is large. The utility asked residents to save water.
The pipeline alone does not solve the problem. A source with enough volume is needed, and that intake is still at the design stage.
