What the survey shows
Bank Indonesia surveys households every month on how they view the economy, income and jobs. The results form the IKK, or consumer confidence index. A score above 100 means optimists outnumber pessimists.
In July 2026 Bali's index stood at 126.3, up from 121.5 in June. Indonesia's national figure was 116.8.
The central bank's explanation
Achris Sarwani, head of BI's Bali office, linked the rise to residents' improving view of economic conditions.
He said household spending is supported by stable purchasing power and moderate prices. Bali's inflation was 2.42% in July, within the target band.
Sarwani gave his assessment in Denpasar. He said growing household consumption gives the island's economy positive momentum this year.
Bali's reading stayed above 100 in both June and July, and the July figure was almost five points higher.
Context
The July data came before prices sped up. In August, BPS Bali reported annual inflation of 3.45%, close to the top of the band.
Coming surveys will show whether optimism holds up as fuel and food prices rise faster.
How the index is built
The IKK has two parts. One gauges current conditions, such as income, jobs and whether it is a good time for big purchases. The other reflects expectations for the next six months.
A jump of almost five points in a month means islanders feel more secure about their income. In an economy where many people work in tourism, that is a notable signal.
