Half-year results
Felucia Sengky Ratna, head of Bali's regional immigration office, reported the first-half figures at a briefing on 4 July. Over six months, 342 foreign nationals were deported from the island.
Violations included misuse of residence permits, overstays, public order breaches and offences against local customs. Involvement in illegal economic activity was also listed.
Deportation is usually followed by an entry ban, with its length depending on the offence.
How enforcement works
Six units handle the work: the Ngurah Rai, Denpasar, Singaraja, Tabanan and Klungkung offices plus the Denpasar detention centre. They are supported by Timpora, an inter-agency foreigner supervision team that includes police and local government.
Ratna said field operations and monitoring at vulnerable points keep foreigners within immigration rules.
Context
The checks come amid a wider push against illegal work and foreign-run businesses in Bali. For owners and guests, it means residence status is checked more often, including at the place of stay.
Notable cases of the half-year included Interpol fugitives stopped at Ngurah Rai airport. Immigration handles such cases jointly with the police.
Compared with last year
Over the whole of 2025, Bali immigration deported 359 foreigners. In six months of 2026 the count has almost matched last year's total.
In 2025 Russian, Australian and US citizens were deported most often. The main reason was overstaying a stay permit, which is easy to avoid by tracking visa dates in advance.
