What immigration reported
The Directorate General of Immigration has reviewed nearly two years of the Golden Visa programme, a long-stay visa for investors and skilled talent. As of 18 May 2026, 1,274 visas had been issued. The original target of 1,000 was passed back in July 2024.
Realised investment by holders is put at Rp52.1 trillion. Non-tax state revenue (PNBP) from the programme has exceeded Rp16.3 billion.
Who is getting the visa
The largest groups of holders come from the United States, China, Taiwan, Australia and Russia. The Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Japan and South Korea follow.
Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko said the growth reflects rising global confidence in Indonesia. He stressed that selection stays strict and takes national security into account.
How the scheme works
The Golden Visa has existed since 2024 and grants a stay of 5 or 10 years. Categories include individual investors, corporate representatives, world-class talent and second home holders.
Investors who set up a company in Indonesia need US$2.5 million for the 5-year visa and US$5 million for 10 years. For corporate representatives the thresholds are US$25 million and US$50 million.
The length of stay depends on the amount invested. The five-year visa has a lower threshold than the ten-year one.
The talent category
A separate Golden Visa category targets world-class talent and the diaspora. Applicants show academic or professional credentials and a passport valid for at least six months. They must also prove living funds or place a security deposit.
Singer Anggun Cipta Sasmi is among the recipients. She said many people in the diaspora are still unaware of the visa.
