Indonesia launches GCI status for former citizens and families

Since January 2026 Indonesia has offered Global Citizen of Indonesia (GCI) status. It gives indefinite residence to former citizens, their descendants and foreign spouses of Indonesians.

What it means for investors: If you are married to an Indonesian citizen, GCI may be simpler than renewing a KITAS every year or two.
