April figures
According to BPS Bali, 553,328 foreign visitors arrived in April 2026. That is 17.21% more than in March but 6.41% fewer than in April 2025, when there were 591,221 arrivals.
Over the first four months of 2026, arrivals totalled 2,019,892, which is 1.11% below January to April last year.
An unusual pattern
BPS Bali head Agus Gede Hendrayana Hermawan called it an anomaly: fewer visitors but a higher TPK, the room occupancy rate. Star hotels were 57.94% full, 0.71 percentage points more than a year earlier. Non star hotels reached 34.81%, up 1.49 points.
He noted that occupancy usually rises in April, as the previous two years also showed.
Non star properties, meaning small hotels and guesthouses, were far less full than star hotels: 34.81% against 57.94%. A gap of more than 23 points shows how unevenly demand is spread across segments.
April by country
Australia led with 146,414 visits, or 26.46% of the total, up 22.24% on March. India (46,513), China (44,447), the UK (24,248) and the US (23,986) followed. China showed the fastest monthly growth at 36.77%.
Higher occupancy with fewer arrivals could reflect domestic travel or longer stays. The report does not break this down, so it is better to draw conclusions from the following months.
Australia supplied more than a quarter of April arrivals. Relying on one market makes occupancy sensitive to that country's holiday seasons.
