What was decided
An underpass is planned at the junction by the Udayana University campus in Jimbaran village, South Kuta district. Bali Governor Wayan Koster received confirmation of full central funding during a visit to Jakarta.
The cost was originally to be shared three ways. The centre would pay Rp 200 billion, the province Rp 50 billion and Badung Regency Rp 100 billion. Now the APBN (state budget) will cover the whole amount.
Readiness to build
Badung Regent Wayan Adi Arnawa confirmed that land acquisition for the project is complete. The regency had already set aside Rp 100 billion for preparation.
In September 2025 works were expected to begin in 2026, ideally in January.
The latest position
In April 2026 Governor Koster listed the underpass among projects to be finished by 2029. That list gives 2026-2027 for Jimbaran and a budget of about Rp 350 billion.
No completion has been reported yet. The funding is confirmed, but no opening date has been given.
A ministerial priority
In April 2026 Bali's governor went through a list of infrastructure projects with the ministers of public works, transport and development planning. The Jimbaran underpass was included among 2026-2027 priorities as a fix for congestion in southern Badung.
The same list included a bridge between Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan and the development of several ports.
The campus junction takes traffic from several directions at once: from the airport, from Nusa Dua and from the Bukit. The underpass is meant to split these flows onto two levels so through traffic does not wait at the lights.
