A new duty for platforms
Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri announced that OTAs, including Traveloka and Tiket.com, must show three numbers on each listing. These are the NIB (business registration), the KBLI (Indonesian business classification code) and the NKU (activity number).
The minister said this will make verification faster and more accurate for everyone involved.
Automatic checks via API
Republika reports that from 1 June 2027, unlicensed properties will be dropped from platforms automatically. An API will link data in OSS (the national online licensing system) with OTA databases.
The legal basis is PP No. 28 of 2025 on risk-based business licensing, which requires every tourism business to hold proper permits. Owners have exactly one year to comply, from 1 June 2026 to 1 June 2027.
Why the government is pushing
According to Republika, many accommodation businesses operate without licences and outside the tax system. Hotels say cheaper unlicensed villas are eating into their occupancy, while central and local budgets lose revenue.
The system is meant to give licensed operators a level playing field.
How it fits with other deadlines
Automatic checks from 2027 do not replace earlier steps. The tourism ministry has already sent platforms a list of about 1,600 unlicensed properties, with removals starting on 1 August 2026. New merchants must supply their NIB, KBLI and NKU at onboarding.
Before that, the government had extended the deadline for accommodation licensing to 31 May 2026. The window for sorting out paperwork without pressure is steadily closing.
